Headers in SEO 101
Are you seeking to increase visibility for your blog? Whether you are a business owner or a content creator, you know how powerful it is to maintain a blog. But are you encountering challenges? If you are thinking “I’ve already put out my content, but why doesn’t it feel enough?” we got you.
Visibility is basically how much your page is actually seen by users. The closer to page 1, the better. You want your page to be up there when someone googles something. There are a multitude of ways to do that, but I am here to talk about one simple trick: headers.
What are Headers?
That right above is a header. It is a line of text that we usually see on top and depicts what the following text is about. Headers are bigger than the normal text. There are six, from biggest to smallest— H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6.
Uses for Headers
- Organization: One of Google’s best practices is to imagine writing an outline. Headers are a great tool for organization. It splits up content to more manageable parts for the reader.
- Better Reader Experience: There is a good reason why content has to be readable. You want to ensure that readers will actually read what you put out. Notice how when you are searching for something, you quickly scan the page and think, “Does this answer my question?”. Using headers, it becomes easier to see what the content is about.
- SEO: In a nutshell, search engine optimization is making sure that your content and page is relevant to users. Using headers to improve organization and reader experience are good practices to drive SEO up.
